Professor Yoshinori Hiroi presented a report at the 2nd Open Research Meeting of the Engineering Academy of Japan’s “Science for Policymaking” Project

Prof. Yoshinori Hiroi presented a report, entitled “Exploring the Potential Use of AI in Public Policy,” at the 2nd Open Research Meeting of the Engineering Academy of Japan’s (EAJ) “Science for Policymaking” Project on August 1, 2019 at The Solacity Conference Center (Tokyo).

EAJ was formed by leaders in industry, academy and government to advance engineering and technological science in Japan. This Open Research Meeting was a part of its Project “Science for Policymaking”.

 

At this meeting, Prof. Hiroi and Dr. Koji Fukuda (Chief Researcher at Hitachi’s Kyoto University Laboratory) reported their joint research on AI-based social visions and policy proposals. They also discussed the work being conducted by the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) and trends in information technology that use AI.

Study reports were also presented by the Science and Technology Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Technology Strategy Office of Research and Development Group, Hitachi, Ltd. Participants actively provided their opinions about these reports.
