This book was edited by Prof. Sébastien Lechevalier of L’École des hautes études en sciences sociales (l’EHESS Paris), with the aim of exploring the role of science and technology in modern society from an interdisciplinary perspective that includes the humanities and social sciences. Researchers from Japan and France contributed articles for this publication.
This book consists of four parts: Part I: Critical Views on Innovation from Economics and the History of Science and Law, Part II: Case Studies 1 – Health and Medicine, Part III: Case Studies 2 – Environment, Part IV: Innovation for Whom and for What?
Prof. Hiroi’s article is included in Part IV as the 14th and final chapter.
