The Results of Joint Research on the Post-COVID-19 Society and its Use of AI, Conducted by Professor Yoshinori Hiroi with Hitachi Consulting Co., Ltd. were Announced

The results of joint research on the post-COVID-19 society and its use of AI, which was conducted by Prof. Yoshinori Hiroi with Hitachi Consulting Co., Ltd. were announced. A press conference was held on February 24th, 2021.

The research, titled “Using AI to Propose Policies for a Desirable Future in the Post-COVID-19 Era: Women’s Active Role and a “Decentralized” Society for Work and Life are the Keys.” In this research project, a causal linkage model consisting of approximately 350 social factors was created for Japanese society in the Post-COVID-19 Era, with over 20,000 simulations for the year 2050 that were conducted in order to analyze the results.

Based on the analysis, the following policies were proposed; what we call “Scenarios for Urban and Local Coexistence” has the best performance for the future sustainability of Japanese society. In order to reach this state, it will be important to take measures that target a “decentralized” society in a comprehensive sense, namely, considering people’s work style and life design (women’s active role, satellite office, the division of roles between genders, etc.), as well as the relationship between cities and regions.
