Proposal by the Research Group Led by Professor Yukiko Uchida, Entitled “Co-creation of individual and collective well-being: Measuring the states of spaces and communities to support individuals’ optimization,” Has Been Accepted in the Mission Area of “Society Optimized for Diversity” of FY2021 JST Mirai Program

A proposal by the research group led by Professor Yukiko Uchida and participated by Assistant Professor Masataka Nakayama, entitled “Co-creation of individual and collective well-being: Measuring the states of spaces and communities to support individuals’ optimization” has been accepted in the mission area of “Society Optimized for Diversity” of the FY2021 Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Mirai Program.

This interdisciplinary project will examine the following matters based on social psychological theories and using subjective indicators, in collaboration with physiological index measurement, informatics, and engineering: what kind of a state of place contributes to the optimal state and well-being of individuals? How does the realization of a certain state for an individual relate to the state of place? Specifically, the investigators are interested in places where small groups of people work together, including task-oriented groups in the “workplace” that is more ordinary and closer to a social scene, as well as the idea of the “city” as a shared space. In this process, subjective indicators will be linked to various measurement data.

Thus, the research group aims to create a variety of places that support various optimal states of diverse individuals (from competitive individuals to co-creative individuals).
