Adjustment disorders in new employees are a serious issue today. Shimane University has developed and implemented.
A mental health scale for corporate use called the Shimane Working Attitudes Test (ScWAT). The ScWAT tests the personality traits of new employees from six perspectives. The test results are used to help improve and maintain mental health of employees, and also to facilitate departmental management and the education of the administrative staff. In collaboration with local corporations, we have conducted surveys and provided feedback to help them predict and respond to issues. It has become clear that part of the questionnaires lacks sufficient validity and reliability and that revision of the ScWAT is necessary. The knowledge that will come from collaborating with the Kyoto University Kokoro Research Center will be helpful for revising the questionnaires and developing drawing tests that can help identify latent problems. As a result of our collaboration, we can propose more practical methods.
