Hiroshi Yoshioka  |  Program-Specific Professor  |  Aesthetics and Theory of Arts

My background is in aesthetics, arts, and media theory. Contemporaneous with my involvement in contemporary and media art, I have written articles, organized publications and art exhibitions, and contributed to productions. The Arts and Aesthetics as a field of academic study originated in the modern European ideas of the 18th century. In a developed technological environment, Aesthetics and Arts might not be considered relevant, but I disagree. What is art? What is technology? We must ask these fundamental questions again on the scale of historical and human history without being swayed by swift changes. I hope to investigate them using logical and practical approaches.
