Prof. Hiroi Gives Opening Greeting at a Solar-powered Light-Up Ceremony at Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine

Prof. Yoshinori Hiroi gave the opening greeting at the solar-powered light-up ceremony at Iwashiizu Hachimangu Shrine on March 14th, 2019.

This is part of his project, “The Grove of Village Shrines: A Community-based Natural Energy Initiative”. There are 80,000 shrines that have functioned as regional bases that unify communities and nature worship across the country since ancient times. The goal of this project is to connect these shrines in a uniquely Japanese model to the contemporary task of decentralizing bases for sustainable energy.

The light-up ceremony was held in collaboration with the Hitachi Kyoto University Laboratory. Tomokiyo Tanaka (Chief, Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine), Prof. Hiroi, Shinji Yamada, Ph.D. (General Manager, Center for Exploratory Research, Research & Development Group, Hitachi, Ltd., Chief, Hitachi Kyoto University Laboratory), Shingo Hashimoto (Director, Senior Researcher, Dynax Urban Environment Research Institute, Inc.) gave greetings and Aki Ogata (PR, Liaison, Kokoro Research Center) moderated the ceremony.
