Prof. Hiroi Participated in the NHK/ETV Symposium on 11/18/17
Professor Yoshinori Hiroi participated in the televised symposium “A sustainable society in which one’s reason for living and roles are cyclical”, which aired on NHK/ETV on November 18, 2017.
The participants were: Prof. Hiroi, Prof. Ko Fujiyama (Center Director, Research Institute for Sustainable Communities), Ms. Reiko Katsube (CSW, Toyonaka City Social Welfare Council), Mr. Takushi Takahashi (Chief Priest, Jinguji Temple). It was moderated by Ms. Chie Goto of NHK.
The symposium was held at Jinguji Temple in Nagano on October 22.
At the symposium, various challenges faced by and efforts being made by local communities such as Onan-Cho in Shimane, Toyonaka-Shi in Osaka, Jinguji Temple in Nagano were introduced.
The topics discussed included the differences and similarities of tasks in rural and urban areas, mitigating social isolation, caring for the sick, perspectives on life and death, and supporting the younger generation.
