On May 12th (Sun), 2019, Prof. Toshio Kawai, Director of the Center, gave a lecture at the Benesse Community Seminar called, “An introduction to the study of kokoro for elderly people: How to live well in the super-aging society”.
He focused on how the state of “kokoro” is presumed to underlie dementia and hikikomori (shut-ins), which have increased in today’s aging society. He lectured from the viewpoints of “body,” “bonding,” and “way of life,” while considering how elderly people and their families can live enriching lives in the future.
On April 27th, 2019, an interview with Prof. Kawai was published in the Kyoto Central edition of the newspaper Living.
