Prof. Yoshinori Hiroi appeared in the opening session of the “Science Agora 2020” (November 15, 2020).
Science Agora, hosted by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), is an open forum in which people from all positions of society (including citizens, researchers, specialists, media, and persons involved in industry and politicians) can participate and converse with the purpose of deepening the relationship between “science” and “society.” The forum has been held 15 times since its inception in 2006.
This year, Science Agora was held online under the theme of “Life – Thinking of ‘Life’ Transformed by COVID-19 Pandemic” from November 15th to 22nd, 2020.
Prof. Hiroi appeared in the opening session, “A Vision of Future Society, Life, and Well-being Based on the COVID-19 Pandemic,” and gave a report entitled, “Social Concept in the Post-COVID-19 Period: Transition to a Decentralized System and the Age of ‘Life’”. Prof. Hiroi participated in discussions with 4 other reporters (Michinari Hamaguchi, President, JST, Chieko Asakawa, IBM Fellow, Hiromichi Shinohara, Chairman of the Board, NTT Corporation, Kazuhiko Toyama, Partner, Chairman of IGPI Group) and expressed his opinions on the importance of “scientific uncertainty” and the integration of literature and science.
