My research theme is “To explore care and society that preserves health and happiness(Well-being).
I’m conducting research in the Kingdom of Bhutan and Japan. When I was eight years old, I was exposed to the concept of Gross National Happiness (GNH) in the Kingdom of Bhutan and was extremely impressed. Since then, I have spent my life thinking more deeply about what happiness means and what I can do to help.
Furthermore, through more than 10 years of nursing and community health activities in Japan and abroad, I have realized that values of happiness and health vary greatly from culture to culture. And, I recognized how much care and social environment have a great impact on people. There are many issues in the real world. I believe that many social problems can be solved through health promotion that takes happiness into consideration, through providing care for the purpose of life’s happiness, and through aiming to create a society in which everyone can feel happiness.
Thanks to the support of many people, I am currently involved in research. I believe that the basis of nursing is to think about and provide care by moving one’s own feet and hands and seeing with one’s own eyes. At the same time, I believe it is important to look at data critically and analyze it accurately so as not to be short-sighted. In conducting research activities also, I would like to place importance on visiting the field, getting to know the atmosphere of the field, getting to know people, and analyzing data qualitatively and quantitatively, which can contribute to society and people in the field.
