Tomonori Shimomura | Program-Specific Research Fellow | Pragmatism, Social Thoughts, Political Philosophy
My current research is focused on pragmatism. Pragmatism is a philosophy that originated in America but I’m interested in pragmatism as a philosophy which was born in an “outlying area” of the West. Viewing it from that perspective, I’m questioning anew the problem of “modernity” and “contemporary civilization” mainly in terms of social and political philosophy.
