“Welfare” and “psychology” have developed independently as separate fields of study with different forms of educational training, and different places in the social system. However, recently, complex issues have emerged in which they overlap.
For example, issues surrounding young social recluses are both internal and mental and also external and social in that they concern unemployment or irregular employment, poverty, social exclusion, and the lack of self-affirmation that these situations cause issues surrounding the care of the elderly also include psychological problems, but are typically addressed within the framework of welfare and medical care.
This project aims to understand the current situation surrounding welfare and psychology, to examine various possibilities for bridging and integrating them, and to propose much needed policies that help improve problems that arise from complex societal needs and the hierarchical system of care that organizes providers and services.
