Dr. Salanova Gives a Speech on "Enhancing Healthy Organizations though Work Engagement"
Dr. Marisa Salanova, a professor at Jaume I University in Spain, stayed in Uchida lab from March 18th, 2018 to March 25, 2018. Dr. Salanova is also a research team director at an university-affiliated research institution called WANT – Psychosocial Prevention and Healthy Organizations, being recognized as a leading researcher in the field of positive organizational psychology.
On March 22nd, she gave a talk about “enhancing healthy organizations though work engagement.” She defined work engagement as “work-related persistent positive state of mind that arises from psychological connection with work, such as vigor, dedication, absorption” and explained its relationship with productivity and environmental and psychological resources. Furthermore, she used the last half of the talk to discuss the new findings upon intervention to enhance work engagement at individual workers and at team and how it has been successfully renovating the company. After her talk, Dr. Uchida and Dr. Takemura (Shiga University) had their presentations and discussed Japanese well-being with Dr. Salanova.
