An Editorial by Prof. Yoshinori Hiroi, “Public Policies: The Future that AI Unlocks” was published in the 12/28/18 edition of the Yomiuri Shimbun Newspaper.

He discusses the use of AI in planning future societies and public policies, which holds various possibilities. At the same time, he cautions against overestimating its potential.

Prof. Hiroi also discusses the possibility of AI-Based Policies(AIBP)”, which are policy proposals for a future of sustainable Japan that are developed using AI, which is a collaborative project with the Hitachi-Kyoto University Laboratory. He also discusses his simulation idea concerning higher education and the future of the Japanese society, which is a collaborative project with the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Bureau.
