Evaluating the Relevance of a Dialogue Recording Method between Entrepreneurs and
Researchers: Towards the Wellbeing of People Working in Corporations

Research Topic
Evaluating the relevance of a dialogue recording method between an entrepreneur and  a researcher: Towards the wellbeing of people working in corporations

Lead Researcher
Chiaki Ito, Program-Specific Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University

The purpose of this research project is to evaluate the relevance of a dialogue recording method between from the perspective of the wellbeing of people working in corporations. Entrepreneurs who are trying to create a new corporation often have two sides; on the one hand they may be easily over-driven by economic motives and the need for approval, which may have a negative influence on the wellbeing of themselves and others. On the other hand, they may have such an aspect that they are agents who can present their own standards of value evaluation outside of economic motives (standards such as the company mission, which can lead to the wellbeing of the people working in their corporations) through continuous dialogue and reflection with others.

The dialogue recording method between entrepreneurs and researchers which has been developed by Chiaki Ito (the applicant of this project), is designed so that an entrepreneur becomes aware of and modifies their own standards of value evaluation while interacting with others, including a researcher in the field of business administration. This dialogue recording method will ensure the wellbeing of people and organizations, for, this allows an entrepreneur to engage in a continuous dialogue with a researcher in the field of business administration and accumulate verbatim records of the dialogue, which provides them with opportunities for reflection to become aware of and revise their own standards of value evaluation within an environment where psychological safety is guaranteed.

The expected effect of this project is a contribution to the development of an entrepreneurship training program, which will help the wellbeing of people working in companies; as described above, we understand and address the duality of entrepreneurs, in addition, the program will be developed with an emphasis on community connections between a business owner and their family, employees and their families, and moreover with stakeholders (customers, investors, suppliers, etc.).
