This exploratory study aims at gathering fundamental materials for exploring opportunities to establish Senior Service Workers’ Community (SSWC) 1) to gather together and share fellowship, 2) to provide the necessary education and new skills for finding jobs, and 3) to mediate job opportunities. Seniors may want to return to work for various reasons, including overcoming loneliness and financial difficulties. However, it is not easy for them to form a sense of belonging or bond with colleagues in the workplace since most of the jobs that senior service employees work in are operated in the form of irregular workers or part-time positions. From a quality of life perspective, a job should be more than just making money. With the aging society, it is crucial to embrace senior citizens as society members with economic independence and maintain healthy work culture and lifestyle supported by engaging in a more involved and constructive social gathering. In this study, interviews and questionnaires are used to collect fundamental data on the most urgent issues for senior service workers and what communities to provide. Based on this, it aims to develop a
prototype of the senior service worker community. This result will contribute to creating a community that meets the characteristics of each segmented region and the needs of the seniors in that area.
