熊谷准教授の編著『Bhutanese Buddhism and Its Culture』が出版されました
熊谷誠慈准教授（上廣こころ学研究部門）が企画・編集をおこなった『Bhutanese Buddhism and Its Culture』（ブータン仏教とその文化）が、2014年12月、Vajra Publicationsより出版されました。同書には、ダムチョ・ドルジ内務文化大臣（ブータン王国）の巻頭言を皮切りに、カルマ・ウラ所長（王立ブータン研究所）、フランソワーズ・ポマレ研究ディレクター（フランス国立科学研究所）などの著名なブータン学者の論考が載録されています。本センターからは、熊谷准教授、松下賀和研究員、安田章紀研究員が寄稿しています。
ブータンといえば「国民総幸福(GNH)」という政策が有名ですが、この政策はおろか、ブータン文化全般の根底に、仏教の思想が存在しています。熊谷准教授は、2012年1月より、王立ブータン研究所(Centre for Bhutan Studies)と共同で「ブータン仏教研究プロジェクト」(Bhutanese Buddhism Research Project)を進めてきました。本書は、同プロジェクトの中間報告として、ブータンの仏教と文化を、宗教学、人類学、開発学、教育学など多角的な視点から考察した研究書です。
